Enrolment at Grey Lynn School is governed by an enrolment scheme approved by the Ministry of Education. The enrolment scheme details our school’s “home zone” (description below), all children within this home zone are invited to enrol. Pre enrolment is advised as this will assist with planning for classes.
All students who live within the home zone described below are entitled to attend Grey Lynn School. Proof of residence in the home zone will be required when enrolling for example gas, phone or rates bill.
The
home zone boundary commences at the corner of Richmond and Francis Street on the
southern side of Richmond Road. Following the centre of Richmond Road (northern
side excluded) due southeast, the boundary then follows the centre of Allen Lane
(northern side excluded) to Allen Road. From here along Allen Road (both sides)
to Dryden Street including Selbourne Street. From the corner of Allen Road and
Dryden Street it follows the edge of Grey Lynn Park to the corner of Williamson
Avenue and Ariki Street taking in all streets along the park edge including
Beaconsfield, Baildon, Elgin and Grosvenor.
Then south down along Ariki Street
(both sides included) to Great North Road. Along
the centre of Great North Road (north-western side excluded) to Bond Street.
Along the centre of Bond Street (north-eastern side excluded) to the
North-western Motorway.
Follow the motorway due west until
the MOTAT east bound onramp (opposite Stadium Road). From there down the centre
of Great North Road (northern side excluded) to Bullock Track Road. Along
Bullock Track Road (excluded) and then follow Old Mill Road (excluded) to the
intersection with Francis Street. Finally along but excluding Francis Street to
Richmond Road.
All roads contained within this
boundary are included in the home zone.

Each year the Board of Trustees will determine the number of places likely to be available in the following year for enrolment of students who live outside the home zone.
Applications
for enrolment will be processed in the following order of priority:

To applicants enrolling in a Special Programme approved
by the Secretary of Education. (Grey
Lynn School does not run such a programme). |

To applicants who are siblings of current students |
|
Third Priority: |
To applicants who are siblings of former students |

Fourth Priority: |
To applications who are children of Board employees |
|
Fifth Priority:
|
To all other applicants |
If there are more applicants in the second, third, fourth, or fifth priority groups than there are places available, selection within the priority group will be by a ballot conducted in accordance with instructions issued by the Secretary of Education under Section 11G (1) of the Education Act 1989
