Enrolment at the school is governed by an enrolment scheme. Children who reside in the Grey Lynn School zone are entitled to enrol in this school. Please find further information about our enrolment scheme at the bottom of the page.
If you intend for your child to attend Grey Lynn School we ask that you complete the online in zone pre-enrolment form. We ask that you pre-enrol your child from when they turn 4 years old. This will help us to plan ahead for your child's transition to school. The following documents must be presented with your enrolment form:
A copy of the eligibility document for your child.
This can be either:
NZ birth certificate or NZ passport (if NZ citizen)
Australian passport (if Australian citizen) or
NZ residency permit or NZ student visa/permit and Parental work permit (if the child is not a NZ citizen).
A copy each of the following or email info@greylynn.school.nz
Proof of your address (if in zone e.g., utilities bill, rental/sales agreement).
Immunisation certificate (From your WellChild book or GP)
A copy of any Court Order Documents (if applicable)
If you move into our zone and your child is transferring from another school, please contact the office directly on 09 376 3255 and ask for the Enrolments Officer or email info@greylynn.school.nz
Students within the home zone have automatic right of entry to Grey Lynn School. If you do not live within the home zone specified in the school’s enrolment scheme your application will be subject to the selection procedure specified in the Education Act 1989. The Act states that:
Grey Lynn School Priorities
First Priority must be given to students who have been accepted for enrolment in the following special programme(s) run by the school and approved by the Secretary of Education: Grey Lynn School does not have a special programme.
Second Priority must be given to applicants who are siblings of current students.
Third Priority must be given to applicants who are siblings of former students.
Fourth Priority must be given to any applicant who is a child of a former student of the school.
Fifth Priority must be given to any applicant who is either a child of an employee of the board of the school or a child of a member of the board of the school.
Sixth Priority must be given to all other applicants.
If ballots are decided to be held at Grey Lynn School the date of your child’s birthday will determine which ballot he/she will be in. Please complete and return the online Out of Zone Questionnaire so that your child can be entered into the appropriate ballot.
